Bowen Technique and Complementary Therapies on the Fylde Coast and Preston
Hello and welcome. I am Judith and I am qualified in The Bowen Technique, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage.
I took the decision to train in Bowen in 2012 after receiving regular Bowen sessions myself for a prolapsed disc in my lower back which had occurred several years earlier. I had tried many other therapies and although they had helped to a point, I was struggling with numbness in my left foot and could not walk without a limp until I gave Bowen a try.
Bowen was recommended to me by a friend and after experiencing the powerful way in which it changed my life for the better, I wanted my clients to reap the benefits of this amazing therapy, just as I have done.
I hold a Certificate of Proficiency in the Bowen Technique from (European) College of Bowen Studies (2012), a VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Indian Head Massage (2018) and a VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology (2021). I am a member of The Bowen Therapy Professional Association and take part in regular continuous professional development activities to improve my skills.
My aim as a complementary therapist is to find the most appropriate treatment plan for you to help you feel better, reduce pain levels and promote a general sense of well-being.
Bowen Therapy is a gentle but effective hands on holistic therapy which is suitable for all ages including babies. Each session is tailored to your presenting issues and individual needs.
During a treatment, a series of rolling type moves are made over muscles, tendons, ligaments and soft tissue. Short breaks are taken after each set of moves where I leave the room or step away from your body for a few minutes, allowing your body the time and space to respond to the moves and engage the parasympathetic nervous system.
The treatment can be given through light clothing.
Conditions that may respond to Bowen include but are not limited to back, neck, shoulder, knee and other joint pain, asthma, headaches and migraine, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia and stress and anxiety.
Reflexology is a natural, non-invasive, drug-free therapy involving the application of gentle pressure to reflex areas in the feet that mirror the whole body. Reflexology is a deeply relaxing treatment which can help to create the necessary sense of balance and well-being that the body requires to heal any current disorders.
Benefits include relief of pain, relief from the effects of stress, encouraging better circulation, elimination of waste products and toxins from the body, improved nerve stimulation and immune system function and general relaxation
An Indian Head Massage involves the application of a variety of massage and pressure techniques on the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face. Massage oil may be used on the neck area.
Benefits of a treatment are that it may help to promote relaxation, a sense of well-being, improved sleep patterns, improved blood and lymph circulation, easing of aches and pains, relief of tension, improved energy levels and relief of headaches.
Here are a few of the more common conditions that can be supported:
Sinusitis
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Headaches and migraines
Stress & tension
Hay fever & other allergies
Asthma
Carpal tunnel / RSI
PMT, PMS & menstrual problems
Sciatica
Ankle & foot problems
Insomnia & sleep disorders
Back pain
A Bowen treatment lasts between 30 and 60 minutes and an initial course of 3 treatments is recommended, during which time I would ask you not to have any other physical therapies, e.g. osteopathy, massage etc.
Bowen costs £45.00 per treatment.
A reflexology session lasts 45 minutes but please allow an hour for the whole treatment as it will include completion of a consultation form and aftercare advice.
Reflexology costs £40.00 per treatment.
An Indian Head Massage lasts 30 minutes and costs £30.00 per treatment.
